posted 01/24/2012 This coming spring, Arlington Youth Lacrosse (“AYL”) is offering an in-town lacrosse program for first and second grade boys. The objective is to provide our youngest and newest players with an opportunity to learn, practice and develop their fundamental lacrosse skills, and then to give them real game experience at every session. Highlights of the U9 program include:
-
Flexibility. Each session will consist of both practice time and a game, alleviating concerns about missing the “only practice” or “only game” each week due to conflicts. We encourage full participation, but know that many boys want to explore other sports and activities at this age.
-
Excellent Coaching. We are lucky to have an incredibly knowledgeable and experienced coaching staff at the U9 level. They know how to get the boys up the lacrosse learning curve quickly, all while keeping it fun and engaging. The growth we saw in our U9 players last year was incredible.
-
No Travel Required. All sessions will be in Arlington. The teams will meet twice per week (one weekday evening and one Sunday late morning). To mix it up a bit, we plan on bringing in U9 teams from local towns for occasional games, and we’re looking at providing an opportunity for interested players to participate in at least one local tournament.
We know that lacrosse is unfamiliar to many, so we’re hoping this format will provide new/interested players and their families with an opportunity to explore the fastest growing sport in the country.
Current AYL Families - please help us get the word out about this new program! Any questions can be directed to
